Wendy Marion Smith was born to Catherine Claudette LaRosa and Franklyn Smith on 3/6/1958 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Wendy took pride in her education in Trinidad and had a passion for helping others. Her desire to be a light to all those she encountered led to her calling in the healthcare field. Wendy was a Trini through and through, always speaking on the beauty of her homeland, representing with her Trini flag, colors, or something red just to make a point that TNT was on her mind. Her two sons, Damian and Duane were the center of her life and joy of her existence, she poured into them, moulded them, loved them, and defended them with every breath. She was an exceptional mother. She also shared this love with her friends, her coworkers, and all those who crossed her path. Every now and again she would need to set someone straight if they crossed her and she had no shortage of quick witted one-liners to calm folks down, but it was always done with such a loving balance lol.
Wendy had style, grace and a big personality. Her presence was always known, whether it was due to her fantastic outfit choices, her jokes, or her quick jab comments, there was no denying that she left an impression on you with every interaction. Most people would hope that her interaction left them with a to go platter because her cooking skills were unmatched. Wendy loved to cook and was sought after by the masses to cater events large and small. She loved gardening and built an elaborate healing garden at her home in Reading, PA to help her cope during hard times. Additionally, Wendy enjoyed fellowship time with her church family at Glad Tidings Church in Reading PA where she was baptised. She was a devout Christian and always had a positive scripture or word of encouragement to share with others.
Wendy was preceded in passing by her loving mother Catherine Claudette LaRosa, her father Franklyn Smith, brothers Barry LaRosa, Andrew LaRosa, Anson LaRosa, Marcus LaRosa, and her sister Debbie Ann Smith. She leaves to cherish her memory: her sons Damian and Duane Washington, her brothers: Wayne Smith (Beverly) Roger Smith (Crystal), Ricky LaRosa, Anthony LaRosa, and Stephen LaRosa, her cousin Hazel Joseph, Sherry Dale Joseph (Michael), Patsy Shaw, Junior Washington (Michelle), a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and many friends.
