Rory Anthony Ellison, Sr.

Rory Anthony Ellison Sr., 58, passed away on Friday, September 1, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was the partner of Mary Person for two years.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Otha Harris and Sandra McGhee.  He attended Reading High School and graduated in 1984. He was employed at Sweet Streets Desserts for over 20 years.
Rory was a diehard New Orleans Saints fan. He loved and cherished his children and grandchildren. He was humble and so soft spoken. Although he was quiet, he was stubborn, and stood strong on his opinions.
He is survived by his children, Brea M. Ellison and Rory A. Ellison Jr., his grandchildren, Morgan Martell, Greyson and Ila DeLillo and his parents, Otha Harris and Sandra McGhee. He was predeceased by a son, Marquis A. Ellison on May 24th, 2020.  He also leaves behind a brother, Terrance Harris, who lives in Georgia. An African proverb states that, “A child does not grow up only in a single home but instead their upbringing belongs to its community.”  Rory was fortunate to have embraced the love from his Aunt Maeola (Ellison) and Aunt Ruth (Leonard) who had a huge part in raising him. 
Rory leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who will cherish his memory.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the Harris Funeral Home, 222 N. Front St., Reading, PA 19601.
