Robert Lee Gooch Sr.

Robert Lee Gooch Sr, 93, of Reading PA, passed away on April 3, 2023 of natural causes at Southeastern Veterans Center in Spring City, Chester County, PA.

Robert was born on December 8, 1929, in Nashville Tennessee to George and Christine Gooch. Robert was a veteran of the US Army where he fought for his country in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge from the US Army, Robert moved to Reading PA, where he met his future spouse Blandina (Davis) Gooch. Robert worked for PennOptical for over 20 years where he receiving recognition for not missing a day of work in 20 years. Robert later worked at Brush-Wellman Beryllium Plant, where he retired from in 1995. After retirement Robert's enjoyed life spending time with his family, golfing, and watching his Philadelphia Eagles and 76ers.

Robert was a member of several churches in Reading and a singer in the gospel quartet, The Crowns of Israel.

Robert and Blandina were the parents of eight children, Cynthia Gooch, Robert Gooch Jr, Merinda Gooch, Brian Gooch, George Gooch, Jeffery Gooch, John Gooch, and Karen Gooch. Robert was predeceased by his wife Blandina Gooch, his brothers, George Gooch and John Gooch, and his children, Cynthia Gooch, Merinda Gooch, and George Gooch.

Robert will have a private service for family members only. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, a organization Robert felt strongly about.
