Reaver Glaze Obituary

 

In the twinkling of an eye, Reaver 91, of Reading, PA peacefully departed this earthly life in the early hours of Sunday morning, February 18th, 2024. The angel of the Lord called her name and she transitioned to her eternal home with Jesus Christ.

Reaver was born January 10th, 1933, in Lincolnton, GA. She was the wife of the late Sylvester Glaze and daughter of the late Rozellar Hogan and Will (Leola) Garnett.
Reaver joined First Baptist Church of Lincolnton, GA at an early age. She became the assistant church secretary at First Baptist. As a faithful member, she was known for her vocal renditions of southern gospel hymns.

Reaver was educated in the Lincoln County Georgia school system. She began working as a field hand at a young age, later becoming a domestic worker for several households.

On December 26th, 1950, she married Sylvester Glaze. Of this union, they were blessed with seven children. June of 1967, she relocated to Reading, PA, and joined Union Baptist Church under Rev. Dr. N. H. Gore. Reaver was a choir member, Deaconess, Missionary, along with several other ministries within the church.

Reaver was employed with Whitner's Department Store for 20 years. Later she was employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Berks Heim for 14 years, from which she retired.

Reaver was known as a terrific cook and excellent baker. She was famous for her caramel, pound, and coconut cakes. She enjoyed spending time gardening, crocheting, word search puzzles, and completing adult coloring books.

Reaver leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons and three daughters: Lester Glaze, Reading; Alvin (Cynthia) Glaze, Shillington; Wesley Glaze, Robesonia; Carolyn (David) Davies, Bernville; Marilyn Glaze, Reading; Cheryl Sims Bair, Exeter Township; twelve grandchildren: Denita (Kyle) Adams; Marlon (Carmen) Glaze; Darnell Molina; Rayvin Walker; Jarita (Maurice) Robinson Stover; Marques (Vanessa) Glaze; Dorian Sims; Ashton (Channay) Glaze; Desmond Glaze; Dante Pegram; Kori Glaze; Kayla Glenn; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Reaver is also survived by one brother, Nathan (Delilah) Hogan of Elmsford, NY, one sister Mary (Ernest) Glimp of Reading, PA and one sister-in-law, Emily (Eddie Garnett of Charleston, SC, along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Reaver was predeceased by her husband and daughter, Valarie Faye Glaze; three brothers: Eddie Garnett, John Garnett, and Roy Hogan; six sisters: Johnnie Crawl, Dorothy Washington, Helen Snead, Annie Lee Danner, Ruby Turman, and Geneva Ruspus.
