Ratio Paul Smith, Jr

Ratio Paul Smith, Jr., affectionately known as “Smitty,” 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Harrisburg Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, surrounded by the love of family.

Born in Washington, D.C., Ratio was the son of Ratio Paul Smith, Sr. and June Mason Smith McCombs. He attended high school in Dayton, Ohio, and later went on to proudly serve his country as a United States Army veteran, honorably serving during the Vietnam Era in 1968.

Ratio dedicated many years of service to Sears, Roebuck and Company, where he retired as a skilled electronics technician. Known for his remarkable ability to repair and troubleshoot electronic devices, Smitty was often the go-to person for anyone in need of technical help.

Above all, he will be remembered for his outstanding personality, infectious laughter, and genuine love for conversation. Smitty had a way of making everyone feel welcome, whether sharing a joke, discussing current events, or simply enjoying the company of others. His presence brought warmth and joy to those around him.

He is lovingly survived by his sisters, Faith Lowe Brown of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Anita Williams of Dayton, Ohio; and Ingrid Byrd, also of Dayton, Ohio. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives, and dear friends.

Ratio was preceded in death by his parents, Ratio Paul Smith, Sr. and June Smith McCombs; his sister, Marri Smith; and his brothers, Onslow Smith and Eric Smith.

A memorial and graveside service will be held at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in the spring. Details will be announced by the family.
