Nonie E. Singleton, 76 of Reading, Pennsylvania PA., was called home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8, 2024, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Born July 1, 1947, in Reading, PA., he was the son of the late Nonie B. and Deliliah (Morrison) Singleton; he was the youngest of five.
He was a graduate of Reading Senior High School, he continued his education at Slippery Rock University, and Albright College.
He was the husband of May Rose (Powers) Singleton for 55 years; married July 4, 1968 in New Castle, PA.; to that union one daughter was born, Letta Singleton.
He was employed by Wilson Manufacturing, YWCA, Custodian for PSU, and Manager for campgrounds for CBA, and Chauffeur for Dr. Charles Carabello.
Nonie was an active member of the Zion Baptist Church of Reading, where he served as a Trustee, Missionary Chaplin, Men's Chorus, Van Driver, Usher, President of the Men's Ministry and a Deacon in Training.
Nonie served with the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows, NAACP, Reading Hospital Auxiliary #84, Family First Center, Eastern District Congress of Christian Education, and Camping Foundation of Gibraltar, PA.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nonie B. & Deliliah (Morrison) Singleton, brother, Jesse J. Diggs, sister Catherine Singleton, sister-in-law Nellie L. (Gilmore) Singleton, brother-in-laws, Carl Gumby, Alphonso Powers, Tyrone Powers (wife Sue), Curt Colbert, Rudolph Camper, and God Sister Deborah Willingham.
Nonie leaves to cherish his loving wife, May Rose, his daughter, Letta (Singleton) Wall, wife of Garey Wall I, of Reading, PA, two Grandchildren Tyanna and Garey Wall II, sister Doris (Dee) Singleton, Philadelphia, brother Walter G. Singleton Sr. (wife Ruth), sisters-in-laws Genevieve Gumby, Gladys Camper, Loretta Colbert, brothers-in-law Charles Powers, (wife Eileen) Dave Powers, (wife Gail) Doc. H. Powers and Rick Powers, (wife Corina), all of Reading, and a host nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
