Nelida Melendez Rivera

Nelida Melendez, a beloved 49-year-old, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico, she was the cherished daughter of Manuel Melendez de Jesus and Juana Rivera.

Nelida’s educational journey began with intermediate school. She was an active member of her local church and found immense joy in teaching Bible school to the children. She is survived by her father, Manuel Melendez DeJesus, her brother, Manuel Melendez, and her sister, Carmen Lydia Hernandez.  Her mother, Juana Rivera, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 16, at 2:00 PM at the Harris Funeral Home, located at 222 North Front St., Reading, PA. Following the funeral service, internment will take place at Charles Evans Cemetery.
A viewing will be held from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
