Nathaniel Holmes Sr, a man of 78 years, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 6, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Statesville, North Carolina, Nathaniel was the son of Oscar Holmes and Murlena Turner. He had attended William Penn High School.
He honorably served in the US Army during the Vietnam era from 1966 thru 1972 of which he received numerous decorations, medals and citations.
Nathaniel had worked and retired from Olewine Distribution company of which he was the night shift foreman.
Nathaniel was also a member of the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. When he wasn’t with family or friends he could be found listening to music and watching his favorite cowboy shows.
Nathaniel will be remembered for his sharp wit, infectious sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family.
He is survived by his children, Nathaniel Holmes Jr (Althea), Michael Holmes (Lisa), Shean Wilson (Valerie), Hubert Wilson, and Katherine Wilson.
In addition to his children, Nathaniel was also blessed with five sisters, 23 grandchildren, and 38 great grandchildren.
Nathaniel was predeceased by his parents, Oscar and Murlena Holmes, three brothers, one sister and 2 grandsons.
