Morris “Maurice” Shelton Obituary

Morris “Maurice” Roger Shelton, 79, passed away on Friday, Feb 28, 2025 at home.  Born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Roger and Helen Shelton. He graduated from William Penn High School in 1966. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force serving for 4 years in active duty and 2 years in the reserve during the Vietnam War. He traveled the world and received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. He spent a career as a Warehouse Specialist in his hometown as well as Washington, DC.

An avid movie watcher, Maurice could often be found watching Westerns & Mysteries. A fan of all sports, he was especially passionate about the Washington Commanders football team. While we miss his physical presence, Maurice lives on in our hearts.

Maurice was the devoted partner of Irners “Cookie” Spruill nearly 30 years. He is survived by his son Wade Beaty, daughters Tinika (Jeff) Green and Erica Battle. He was the grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of two. Maurice is also survived by siblings Gloria J. Shaw, John J.(Gerri) Brown, Deborah A. (Brian) Welsh, Freda E. (Charles) Hursey, Barbara S. (Carl) Washington, Clement Perry, Donna L. Tabor, Oceila E. Perry, Joanne Perry-Woods, Gladys (Robert) Smith and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and additional relatives and friends.
