Mae E. Wright, 94, of Carlisle, passed to eternal life on Friday, August 13, 2021, at her home in Carlisle. She was born on September 22, 1926, in Carlisle and was a daughter of the late William L. Jackson, Sr. and Ruth A. (Tucker) Jackson and the widow of David Wright who passed Sept. 29, 1974.
Mae graduated in 1946 from Carlisle High School. She retired from P. R. Hoffman Co. in Carlisle after 25 years of service. Mae was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Carlisle where she was a Church Mother, Deaconess, Trustee, Choir member, a Golden Girls member, and a part of the kitchen committee. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Haines-Stackfield American Legion Post 826, Carlisle.
She is survived by four sons, Steven Jackson, Nathaniel Clifford Wright, Jeffrey Wright, and Frederick S. Wright, all of Carlisle, three daughters, Charlene A. Thompson of Killeen, TX, Karen L. Wright of Carlisle and Teresa L. Johnston of Landisburg, one brother Frank Jackson of Mt. Holly Springs, three sisters, Rev. Dr. Edith Werdebach of Carlisle, Bertha Jackson of Philadelphia and Mary Lewis of Carlisle, one step-son, Harrison Wright of Carlisle and many grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter Brenda Williams, three brothers, Roger, Edward and William Jackson and one sister Eleanor Spencer Rosado.
A viewing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2021, followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. in the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 401 N. West St., Carlisle with Rev. Robert L. Woodall as the officiant. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Mae E. Wright, memorial contributions may be made to her church.
