Jessie “Jasper” Lee Holt Jr., 75, of Wernersville, PA, passed away on November 4, 2020.
Jessie was born on January 12th, 1945 to Jessie Lee Holt and Delilah Mae Westbrook in Lexington, NC. During his pre-school years Jessie was adopted by Daisy and Henry Owens upon relocating to Toccoa, GA where he grew up as a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. After graduating from Whitman Street High School, he went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science followed by his Master’s degree in Human Resource Management at Rutgers University.
After high school, he moved to Newark, New Jersey to live with his cousin Donald and his family while seeking employment. He landed his first job with CR Bard, kicking off a 40+-year career in medical device manufacturing.
In 1965, he wed Carolyn Joyce Anderson, and went on to have daughter Kimberly. Eventually marrying a second time in 1978 to Shirley Long, and having son Brian.
After retiring in 2008, Jessie spent his time working odd jobs, caring for his wife Shirley, rooting for the LA Lakers and NY Mets, and brightening the days of everyone he came in contact with by flashing that infectious smile and sharing his dry sense of humor as there was always time for a conversation.
Jessie is predeceased by his adoptive parents and his brother, Seaborne. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his two children, Kimberly Lambert and Brian Holt; his three grandchildren, Tristan Holt, Joseph Jessie Frank Lambert and Branden Holt; great-grandson Franklin Jessie Joseph Lambert; his sisters, Helen (James) Hickman-Davis, Bessie (Alvin – deceased) Clark, Mary (Evangelist Vincent) Robinson; and his brothers Troy (Sue) Hickman and Howard ( Pat) Turner along with a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Mount Zion Baptist 115 W Whitman St, Toccoa, GA 30577 (706.886.5341 ph) Saturday, December 5, 2020 at 11 o’clock a.m.
