Jerome Arvel Key, 90, was born April 20, 1933 passed away on February 13, 2024 at the Reading Hospital. He was the widower of Louizer Key of who he shared 73 years of marriage. Jerome was born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania and was the son of Bernard and Cleo Key.
He was employed by Birdsboro Steel as a machine operator, Garden State Tannery as a machine operator and the City of Reading as a sanitation worker.
Jerome was a member of Union Baptist Church.
He enjoyed jazz music, dancing, shooting pool, boxing, traveling and partying at home every Friday and Saturday night.
Jerome will be remembered for his fashionable style and his large collection of hats. He was a hard-working family man.
He is survived by his daughter Jereene Key Braxton (Leon Braxton). Sons: Danté Key and Ricardo Bailey, grandson: Larry Carwell, and Jerome Key III, granddaughters: Iesha Yancey and Bianca Key. 11 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Regina Key and a son Jerome Arvel Key II and his oldest great grandson Chyquel Key. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2024, 11:00 AM at the Union Baptist Church, 211 Schuylkill Avenue, Reading, PA 19601.
Interment will follow at Berks County Memorial Gardens, 201 Evansville Rd., Fleetwood, PA 19522.
Viewing will be from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
