George E. Stewart, Jr., 83, passed away at his home on Friday, August 23, 2024. He was the husband of Barbara Stewart. They shared over 60 years of marriage together.
Born in Reading, Pennsylvania, George grew up in Temple, Pennsylvania. He was the son of the late George E. Stewart, Sr., and Sarah Thomas Stewart. He attended Muhlenberg School.
He retired after 39 years from the Reading Tube Company, (now Cambridge Lee).
George was a lover of sports and deep sea fishing. He played basketball, softball, and he also played semi-pro football for the “Coal Crackers.”
He will be remembered for his personality and his no filter.
He is survived by his spouse, two sons, Maurice Stewart (Kathy), Darin Stewart, one daughter, Culleen Fuller (Clarence) five grandchildren, Jessica Stewart, Malcolm Fuller, Zemirah Fuller, Darius Fuller, Josiah Fuller, five great grandchildren, Jordan Blanding, Jaden Blanding, Jasani Kotek, Jhakai Kotek and Cameron Fuller. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers Harry Stewart, William Stewart and sister Doris Stewart Battle. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and one special nephew, Stephen Greer (and wife Janice).
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 31 at the Harris Funeral Home, 222 North Front St., Reading, PA. Hours of visitation are from 10:00 am to 11:00. Service starts at 11 o’clock.
Burial will follow the service at Berks County Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers are; Maurice Stewart, Darin Stewart, Robert Davis, Eli Davis, Jermaine Carter, Demerick Cook Jr.
Honorary Pallbearer are; Jason Stewart, Demerick Cook Sr., and Stephen Greer.
