Frederick “Fred” Criddell, 51, passed away peacefully at home on April 2, 2021.
Born in Georgia, he was the son of Bernice and Frederick Criddell. He attended Reading Senior High School and obtained his General Education Diploma in 2008. Fred was a gifted entrepreneur having owned and operated a variety of businesses over his life. Most notable were the convenience store and laundromat on 4th St, right across from his family’s home.
Fred enjoyed caring for his mother. Fred was also known for taking on home improvement projects for his mother and other family members to enjoy. He will be remembered for not only his talent, but also his jovial spirit. Though he was often referred to as “Big Fred”, he was a teddy bear at heart. Many friends and family recount his gentle and caring way.
Fred is survived by his 3 precious children (Shidera, Fred, and Michael) and grandchildren (Jamari, Azai, and Myra-Lynn). Fred also leaves to mourn his brothers, Christopher (Antoinette) and Bruce, nephews, uncle and aunt, and a host of cousins who have viewed Fred like a brother.
The funeral service will be held on April 17, 2021 at 11:00 am at Harris Funeral Home at 222 N. Front St, Reading PA. The viewing will be from 10:00 am to 11:00am
The family appreciates the outpour of support and the happy memories that neighbors and friends have share about our beloved Fred.
