It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ms. Earnestin Childs on May 27th, 2026, at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 28th, 1936 in Woodland, Georgia. Earnestine moved to Reading, Pennsylvania and built a beautiful life centered around her family. She was a devoted mother and a proud grandmother who loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was known for her sense of humor, sassiness and always saying what was on her mind. She loved to travel, especially the bus trips. You could always catch her having a meal at Boscov's with her favorite waitress Mrs. Sherry. She worked at Mechanics Uniforms which later changed to ARAMARK in which she retired. She also worked part time at Eng's Laundry on 5th Street.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Earnestine is survived by her children Anna Childs Brown, Mark Childs, Victoria Childs, Veronica Childs, her grandchildren Kerream Jones, Karhan Jones, Ronque Brown, Keyon Childs, Tasha Childs, Quantieus Childs, Tony Barrett, Tina Brown, Michael Brown, Levarry Childs, Amber Childs and her great grandchildren Que'Ron Brown, Curtis Brown McDaniel, Ronque Brown Jr, Asia Brown, Caylin Brown McDaniel and Ya'mari Brown . She was preceded in death by mother Rachal Gibbin, father Willie Ben Childs, sisters Eleanor Jones, Annie Mae Cooper and brother Willie Ben Childs, Jr., and son Clark Childs.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 11th, 2026 at 10am at Saint John Missionary Baptist Church . All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
