Delano Madison Johnson

Delano Madison Johnson (Bumper), son of the late Madison Johnson and Sandrea Johnson (Coad) was born June 28th, 1956 in Reading, Pa. Delano departed this life Tuesday morning, October 31, 2023 surrounded by his loved ones.

Delano was educated through the Catholic School system. He worked many years in retail stores within the City of Reading.

Delano enjoyed working out on a regular basis, playing basketball, cooking on the grill and spending time with loved ones. Delano’s love for music allowed him to play the guitar effortlessly. He enjoyed singing karaoke regularly at local venues. His soulful voice once allowed him to sing alongside Jeffrey Osbourne at the Berks Jazz Fest.

Confidence and charm were displayed at an early age. Delano took great pride in himself; this was shown within his daily choice of attire. His sense of style was unmatched and noticeable in any room he entered. He was and will always be “the man”. Most importantly, Delano gave his life to God six days before his passing.

Delano leaves to mourn two children: Davon M. Price (Lancaster, Pa), Tawanna S. Liggs (Laureldale, Pa) and eight grandchildren.

He is survived by six sisters: Carolyn A. Johnson-Hall, wife of Samuel Hall (Reading, Pa), Jamilla S. Workman, wife of Candido M. Workman (Reading, Pa), Valderez F. Walton, wife of Lloyd G. Walton (St. Lawrence, Pa), La’Venre D. Johnson-Daglis, wife of Nicholas C. Daglis (Sinking Spring, Pa), Torchon N. Johnson (Birdsboro, Pa), Ashley M. Stephany (Brooklyn, NY) and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church at 621 Church Street, Reading Pa. The viewing will start at 11 a.m. followed by the service at 12 pm.
