Curtis James Ellison was called Home to rest in the eternal Glory of God on November 28, 2022. Lovingly known by many as "Juno", he was born in Reading, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Christine Ellison, and grandson of the late John and Erma (Benning) Ellison of Manchester, Georgia, where his heart resided.
Juno graduated from Reading High School in 1976 where he served as captain of both the basketball and football teams. Having held a variety of professional roles within the labor workforce, he was most recently employed by Cambridge-Lee Industries for the past 23 years. At home, Juno was an amazingly skilled gardener whose Love and Respect for the Earth ran deep. These virtues were taught to him by his grandparents, and he carried on their traditions with Grace.
An active resident and vocal advocate for developing our youth and community, Juno dedicated most of his free time in year-round service to the City that he loved. He was a proud member of the Fisherman's Club and regularly organized and hosted events throughout Reading. From Easter egg hunts to 4th of July cookouts to food and clothing drives of all sorts, Juno's efforts to spread Love and restore Hope have undeniably impacted the lives of many. His ability to bring people together remains one of his greatest gifts, and what he will be remembered for most.
He is survived by his wife, Karen Moorer; two daughters, Jennifer Ellison of Bronx, NY and Adrienne Moorer of Reading, PA; a son, Jadrien Ellison of NYC; two grandchildren, Maliyah Nelson and Abria Smith; two sisters, Sara Ann Bruce of Manchester, GA, and Veronica Ellison, and a brother Zachary Ellison, both of Reading, PA; as well as a host of aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends near and far among whom he will be forever loved and deeply missed.
