Chick Lee

Charles Leroy Lee, Jr., (77), affectionately known as “Chick,” was born in Horsham, Pennsylvania on August 1, 1943, to the late Charles Leroy Lee, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Jones (Lee). He left this earth and entered God’s graces on January 15, 2021.

Chick graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School and attended Morgan State University until he left to care for his family.  He loved golf, tennis, track, bowling, and football and was an avid Eagles fan.  He enjoyed endless playing,  eating popcorn, and making strawberry shortcake with Gavin.  He enjoyed a close relationship and the time he spent with his grandchildren and great-grands. Chick also loved massages from Bri. No one could escape the “Chick kisses.” Chick loved wearing his cowboy hats, boots, and watching “old” cowboy movies.  Chick found the good in everyone, and his passion was helping minority businesses.

Chick spent over 56 years as a successful business entrepreneur and strategic alliance expert. He Founded or Co-founded the following companies: Advanced Management Concepts, Core Mechanical HVAC, Delta Construction, Nesby + Associates, and Strategic Alliance Experts.  His accomplishments included: NMBEIC Chair from 1996 – 2002, Founding member and 1st President of the First State Community Loan Fund of Delaware, Co-founder of MASBEC, Co-founder and board member of MINDCO partnering with Kutztown University, and Co-Founder Pa Community Safety Alliance. He served on the following boards: United Way of Berks County, Hawk Mountain Council Boy Scouts of America, Minority Business Association of Delaware, and Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Chick was very passionate about the community and looked for every opportunity to contribute.  He was a Strategy Consultant for PCPOA (Pennsylvania Crime Prevention Officer’s Association) and produced two BCTV shows - one on Diversity & Equity and one on Safer Neighborhoods for Stronger Communities with PCPOA.  He worked with the Michael Metzler Fund from Berks Crime Alert, the Camel Project, and Exeter School District on Bullying, Diversity & Equity. Chick’s most recent endeavor was developing the Diversity Consortium (Supplier Diversity/Community Impact).

On December 15, 1990, he married his soulmate, Rita “Denise” Lee (Vanderhorst), and they spent 30 wonderful and happy years together. They traveled to several exotic places and hosted many family events, bringing both families together. He always commented on how happy he was to have gained so many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles through this union.

Chick is survived by his wife Denise Lee; his children: David (predeceased), Charles (Chaz), Kim; his brothers: Thomas (Brenda-predeceased), George (Kathy); his grandchildren; Angel (Tosha), Cambria, Brianna, Gavin, Na’im; great-grandchildren: Gia, Cameron, Angelo; his nieces and nephews; Angela, Diallo, Shannon, Gregory, and numerous other nieces and nephews who he loved and adored.  He leaves behind his dear friends Jonah Cooper and Tom Nesby, along with a host of aunts, cousins, friends, and many business associates that he also considered friends.
