Chester Gaylor Obituary

Chester M. Gaylor, 73, of Mount Penn, peacefully passed away on November 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family after facing cancer with incredible strength and grace. Born in Nash County, North Carolina, on November 20, 1952, Chester lived a life defined by hard work, kindness, and devotion to his family.

On May 17, 1985, Chester married the love of his life, Roxanne (Rapino) Gaylor.

Together they shared 45 wonderful years filled with love and countless cherished memories. Chester dedicated over 30 years of service to the City of Reading, where he was known for his dependability and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved tending to his garden, fixing things around the house, and spending time with his grandchildren to whom he was "Pop Chet". A loving husband and a proud father and grandfather, Chester could always be counted on to lend a helping hand or cook a good meal.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Roxanne; his children, Michael A. Terry, Nicholas C. Gaylor, and Daryl L. Gaylor; his stepmother, Shirley Singleton-Gaylor; his siblings, Timmy (Nicole) Singleton, Tammi Singleton, Jerome (Megan) Singleton, M. Candy Singleton, Jeffrey Singleton; brother-in-law Clarence Isaac. Sister-in-law Beverly A Morgan, Francine Chase and Lisa (Hector) Nunez. Chester's legacy continues through his three sons, seven grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will forever hold him close in their hearts.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Bessie Morgan; father, James E. Gaylor; brothers, Larry Cooper, Wilbert Morgan, and J. Milton Gaylor; and his sister, Joyce (Gaylor) Isaac.

Chester will be remembered for his generosity, his warmth, and his unwavering love for his family. We will miss his steady presence, his kindness, and the way he made every day a little brighter.

His love and strength will forever be a part of our family's story.
