Charlie (Charles, Danny) Daniel Varner, age 79, born December 4, 1945, to the late to Charlie and Rosa Lee (Jefferies) Varner of Shelby, North Carolina, has entered into the Lords arms on Monday, May 19, 2025. He attended school in Shelby, NC.
Charlie joined the United States Army serving in Vietnam, where he received several metals for Combat Infantry. Charlie loved to cook and fish. He also loved music and always the best quality music systems.
His love of cooking, got him a job at the former A&T and later at Berks Heim until retirement. He was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan until his passing.
Charlie was a member of Hope and Glory Church where he was ordained by the Rev. Dorothy Ellison as a deacon. Later, he joined New Hope Church of Reading, Pa. Charlie return to his home church, True Faith Independent Holiness Church of Birdsboro, Pa., as a Deacon and a member of the Men’s Chorus.
Charlie was a family man, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughters Nakeesha Tyler Walker of West Reading, Pa., and Beverly (Tyler) Whetstone, Reading, Pa., a son, Walter (Tracy Portalatin) Gibson. He also leaves to cherish in his memory, his former wife and best friend Barbara (Gibson,Tyler) Varner of Reading, Pa.
Charlie is also survived by an Aunt Freda Jeffries, Willingboro, N.J., 2 Sisters, Linda C. (Marshall) Avery of South Carolina, Juanita Varner, New York City, and brother Deaver Alvin (Delores) Varner.
4 Grandchildren, Simone, Christopher, Donte (Jennifer), Jeremy, Rosalyn, Christa, Kiara, Demorris of Atlanta, Ga., and Brian of Reading and 16 great grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
He was preceded in death by son Keith A. Tyler, brother Terry Allen Varner, sisters Alfreda Rogers and Athea Farfon, and one grandson, Shannon.
