Brenda C. Jones

Brenda C. Jones, 66, of Reading entered her eternal rest on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at home. 

Born in Reading, PA on December 10, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Hyder Jones and Carrie Lee (Cooper) Jones. 

Graduating from Reading High School in 1974/5, Brenda worked for the former Western Electric Plant (later ATT/Agere) until its closing in the early 2000s. She later worked as a CNA for various agencies in the Reading area. 

Giving her life to the Lord at an early age, Brenda had a heart for giving and serving others. A true Evangelist, she didn’t need an official title, she simply did whatever work needed to be done. Serving as the Head of Hospitality and Usher Boards at Mount Zion COGIC for most of her life, Brenda also served as an Usher for the Reading Ministerial Association; she later became a member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she also became a tireless worker. 

Saying that Brenda was a creative and unique individual was an understatement. An infectious laugh and dry sense of humor, Brenda was known to makeup her own words (laugh). She was known to make her own clothing and was affectionately known as “Sally Starr” among those who knew her. Brenda loved to travel and would not hesitate to do so on a whim. She also loved to eat out and was well-known at a number of local restaurants, especially Bojangles. 

She leaves to mourn her daughter, Naomi C. Duncan-Jones and grandson Joseph Santana; 3 brothers: James E. Jones, Christopher F. Jones (Lalita), Wayne Price. 8 Sisters: Jennifer Price (Dennis), Cynthia Jones, Sylvia Skinner (Steven), Judy Jones, Donna Johnson (William), Iris Jones, Consuelo Jones, and Vicki Price. She also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and special friends to cherish her memory.
